The Cultural Experience, founded in 2009, is a Wiltshire-based travel operator specialising in curriculum-led educational trips for schools. We've built a reputation for providing excellent customer care and delivering high quality learning experiences to help bring your teaching to life.
We also specialise in delivering expert-led battlefield and history tours and bespoke experiences for the discerning traveller.

Alan Rooney CIMA Ad Dip MA, MBA
Managing Director
xAlan has over 20 years of experience in the travel industry, including previous roles as managing director for Midas Tours and Holts Tours. An accountant by training, he also holds a Masters in Business Administration. Alan regularly travels with our tour groups on both school trips and scheduled history and battlefield tours. His particular area of interest is the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, and he often guides tours to Paris and Waterloo.
Richard Twynam
Managing Director
Richard has enjoyed a lifelong career in the travel industry and has led businesses across airlines, cruise lines, tour operators and educational travel. As a father of two young children my wife and I passionately believe in the transformative nature of travel and its ability to educate and remove barriers and prejudice. Richard is very well travelled and has visited over 75 countries and 6 of the 7 continents.
Shaun Smith
Tour Manager
Shaun is an experienced tour director, having been escorting groups all over Europe and the United States for more than 20 years. For the last 10 years he has been working specifically within educational travel and enjoys supporting teachers on school and college trips abroad. Shaun now puts his many years of experience to work for TCE, assisting in the organisation of our school trips.
