Alan Rooney CIMA Ad Dip MA, MBA
Alan has over 20 years of experience in the travel industry, including previous roles as managing director for Midas Tours and Holts Tours. An accountant by training, he also holds a Masters in Business Administration. Alan regularly travels with our tour groups on both school trips and scheduled history and battlefield tours. His particular area of interest is the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, and he often guides tours to Paris and Waterloo.
Major General Ashley Truluck CB CBE BA Head of MOD Business
Ashley served in the British Army worldwide, ran the Defence College of Communications & Information Systems and was a General in NATO. He now acts as managing consultant for The Cultural Experience while running several businesses, and is Chairman of the Society of Army Historical Research (which amongst other things runs a schools essay competition and grants scheme for University research). Passionate about history and enthusing others, he leads a number of historical trips for TCE each year.
Billy Grimes BA
Billy is new to the travel industry, but his love of history and personal experiences travelling throughout Europe have helped him to fit in quickly and made him a real asset to the team. He looks forward to using his lifetime interests in history and travel to assist the TCE team in any way he can.
Shaun is an experienced tour director, having been escorting groups all over Europe and the United States for more than 20 years. For the last 10 years he has been working specifically within educational travel and enjoys supporting teachers on school and college trips abroad. Shaun now puts his many years of experience to work for TCE, assisting in the organisation of our school trips.
Emma Curteis BA, MSc
With an MSc in Tourism Management, Emma has over 20 years’ experience in the travel industry, having worked for both major tour operators and small specialists, including companies in the school travel sector and the cruise industry. Emma enjoys the opportunity to combine her love of both history and travel in her role as tours administrator.
